Eric B. Hyde Announces Campaign for Lawrence City Commission: Integrity, Unity, and Vision
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Eric B. Hyde, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, Kansas, has announced his candidacy for the City Commission, running on the principles of Integrity | Unity | Vision. Hyde’s campaign breaks from convention—he refuses campaign financing and social media, instead focusing on direct community engagement and a steadfast commitment to ethical leadership.
Hyde believes the greatest challenge facing Lawrence is immorality—not any specific social class. “Truth is at the heart of integrity,” Hyde explains. “We must honor the public above the public servant, ensure fairness in all we do, and avoid confusing fact with opinion. Only through virtue can we unite as the future greatest city on earth.”
Hyde is an advocate for diversity, democracy, and constitutional values. He emphasizes that public institutions—such as education systems and medical practices—must remain nonpartisan and fair. “Freedom requires ethical constraints,” Hyde says. “Lawrence must grow, but it must do so with virtue, fairness, and a commitment to the shared good.”
Hyde’s contributions to the community speak volumes. He is widely credited with being a key figure in addressing Lawrence’s homeless crisis, a cause he sees as a moral responsibility. Additionally, Hyde voluntarily cleaned and trimmed Naismith Valley Park for an entire year to help restore the city’s beauty. It was during this effort that the Jayhawks won their most recent Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship—a moment Hyde believes reflected the city’s spirit and potential.
Hyde’s work has not gone unnoticed. Last year, he was nominated for the prestigious Douglas County Engaged in Action Awards, a recognition of his tireless dedication to Lawrence.
“The doorway to greatness has always been open,” Hyde says. “It has been since the dawn of mankind. Now is the time for Lawrence to step through, united by integrity and vision.”
Hyde’s personal life mirrors his dedication to the community. He and his fiancée, Elizabeth, run her janitorial business, Completely Clean, while he pursues a philosophy degree with a political science minor at the University of Kansas. A graduate of Lawrence High School and Johnson County Community College, Hyde brings a deep understanding of his hometown and its people.
[Note: I withdrew from all courses at the University of Kansas on February 28th, 2025, due to the coordinated dishonesty of Philosophy Professor F., and Philosophy Chair S. who said I would have a hard time getting a philosophy degree at KU.]
Hyde and Elizabeth are set to marry on March 15, 2025, and are expecting their first child on July 31, 2025. Despite encountering hostility from some community members, Hyde remains focused on fostering unity.
“There is no time for drama,” Hyde says. “Lawrence is the greatest city on earth, and together we can achieve even more with integrity, unity, and vision.”
Through his campaign, Hyde calls on the people of Lawrence to join him in building a brighter, more virtuous future—one grounded in fairness, guided by truth, and inspired by the greatness of the Supreme Being.
This message has been approved by Eric B. Hyde for Lawrence City Commission.

CORRECTION—“pursued” a philosophy degree at KU. I withdrew from all classes because of intellectual dishonesty, retaliation, and a faculty unwilling to confront the truth.
